There are ads on the website since it's free, but it's not a major issue. It's not as detailed as some other systems. I chose Spiceworks because it was free and it met all our needs.

      I find Spiceworks excellent for managing help desk tickets. I've been able to customize our end-user portal and create multiple ticket templates using HTML. The mobile application for iOS and Android is the best I've seen, with a great GUI, user-friendly interface, and easy setup. However, the inventory system is not as reliable for producing accurate information. For example, it couldn't provide the specific make and model of the current monitors when we were upgrading our end users to dual monitors. It also had issues scanning computers with two monitors, often showing only one. During a license key audit, it inaccurately showed that several computers had three iterations of office installed. Recently, we've had issues with Spiceworks failing to complete scans of 180 assets without errors, and it often locks up, preventing end users from accessing the help desk portal. Due to these issues, we've switched to LanSweeper for asset tracking.

      I find that the Spiceworks IT Helpdesk Cloud version fulfills all my requirements for a cloud-based ticketing system. While it may lack some features, it carries out all the fundamental functions expected from an IT support helpdesk ticketing system. I have been a user of the Spiceworks community for years, and started using their IT Helpdesk when it was launched. I stopped using it until they released their cloud IT Helpdesk, which is more convenient for me as it eliminates the need for hosting. Now, I have an excellent IT helpdesk for my clients to log tickets with, and it's completely free. The only drawback was that it was initially released as a windows installer, which was not suitable for my business as I don't have my own servers. However, when the Cloud IT helpdesk version was launched, I resumed using Spiceworks IT helpdesk. Despite lacking some premium features, it covers the basics and is suitable for my IT consultancy business. I initially tried the installable Spicework.
