I think the Sparkpost team is committed to improving their product and truly values their customers. Using Sparkpost is a no-brainer for anyone comfortable with API configuration. It's extremely reliable for transactional email sendings and the free plan provides great value. Some features of Sparkpost require API/programming knowledge to modify and can't be changed via the dashboard, but this is getting better.

Decent, yet some aspects challenging to navigate
I inherited SparkPost from another product team and it's deeply integrated into our systems, making it hard to remove. However, it performs well in sending our automated emails and experiences minimal downtime, which is a plus. I find the filtering system to be sensitive and cumbersome, and I wish I could view past emails beyond the standard 10-day window, especially since we have a 14-day subscription warning. When customers ask about these emails, I can't provide them with the necessary information. Although I have the option to upgrade for a longer viewing window, the cost seems high for just four extra days. The filtering capability is also quite fickle, making it difficult to search for emails, domains, and sent days. Despite these issues, I appreciate how smoothly SparkPost works with our systems and find the analytics useful for reviewing open, close, bounce rates, and so on.

Sparkpost & MessageBird: A Tale of Irresponsibility and Poor Service
I am extremely unhappy with Sparkpost & MessageBird. They have shown irresponsibility in handling account suspensions and seem to have no regard for the impact on their customers or the quality of their service. They suspended our service due to their failure to respond to over 25 emails and 15 tickets we opened to request payment information, which they altered during their transition from Sparkpost to MessageBird. After six months, they finally responded with incorrect information, causing further delay in our payment, and then they terminated our service. This is the poorest service I have ever experienced. I struggle to find anything positive to say about Sparkpost and MessageBird's management of their service. I regret choosing SparkPost.

It's also very cost-effective, I haven't even exceeded the free usage limit. However, activating a domain for sending can sometimes be a hassle, as it requires altering the website's DNS. Although you can also activate it via an email address associated with the domain, this method isn't always reliable. Once a domain has been added to an account, it can't be transferred to a different account unless the original account deletes the domain. I encountered this issue with one client who couldn't activate Sparkpost because it had previously been installed by another party, and we didn't know who.

Unreliable Service: Proceed with Caution
I must warn anyone who depends on their mail being sent to think twice before using Sparkpost. I used Sparkpost for over two years and a few months ago, they implemented an automated abuse detection system that flagged my account. I only use Sparkpost to send transactional mail to my customers and I don't send unsolicited marketing emails. However, when my account was suspended, I couldn't get in touch with anyone to resolve the issue for hours. After finally making contact, my account was reactivated and I received a generic "Sorry" email. Despite not having the resources to switch my mail provider, my account was suspended again after 6 weeks. I had a hard time reaching someone for hours, and when I finally did, I was told that another department was responsible for account suspensions. I find this service absolutely terrible and I wouldn't recommend it as a crucial part of your architecture. The reliability of the service is questionable as I was suspended not once, but twice, and had a hard time reaching the right customer support person. This affected my entire business.

They responded within a reasonable timeframe of 6 months, considering the complexity of the transition, and even though there was a minor hiccup with the information, they quickly rectified it. This allowed us to resume our payments and get back to using their service. This is the best service I have ever received.
