Efficient Tool with Exceptional Customer Support
I am managing a COVID-19 responsive loan program for small businesses and nonprofits that were overlooked by other funding programs. It was vital to quickly inform interested organizations. However, our initial message was marked as spam by a competitor due to terms like 'loan', 'get capital quickly', etc. We were overwhelmed with calls from organizations seeking this information and had no idea how to fix this issue. Campaigner simplified the process of setting up our messages, customizing segments for different audiences, and rapidly spreading the word. Their customer service team was a pleasure to work with, being responsive, helpful, and friendly. Although the user interface wasn't instantly intuitive, their customer service team and supportive knowledge base made it easy to achieve our objectives. We opted for Campaigner because MailChimp flagged some of the keywords crucial to our work as spam traits and provided no solution to the problem. Carlos Petersen, the Customer Marketing Manager, expressed his gratitude to me.

Campaigner: A Mediocre Choice for Email Marketing
I used Campaigner for one of my e-commerce clients. At first, it was good but I eventually switched to Listrak because it provided better support and features. I had used Campaigner for Email Marketing campaigns before. While it's easy to use and set up, it has limited features. One of its best features is the workflow for sending automated emails. It also allows for easy creation of segments for more targeted emails. However, the customer service wasn't great and I sometimes had login issues. It also didn't function well in all browsers. The price is relatively high compared to other similar tools. The vendor responded to my feedback, thanked me for it, and assured me that many of the issues I raised have been addressed. They also expressed their willingness to have me back if I ever wish to use Campaigner again.

Steep Learning Curve, Yet a Powerful Tool
I use Campaigner for various tasks including direct marketing to customers, distributing information to vendors and other interested parties, and media outreach. I find it effective for all these tasks as it can handle them without interference. I appreciate its ease in managing lists, importing from other sources, handling unsubscribes and reporting. The customer support via chat and telephone is excellent. However, the WYSIWYG tool can be a bit frustrating as the interface sometimes makes editing difficult. I chose Campaigner mainly because we had accumulated years of contacts and lists in Contactology. When we revisited the service, we decided to stick with Campaigner. I have used other services and found Campaigner to be the best fit for our needs. We switched to Campaigner because Contactology was acquired by Campaigner/J2. I appreciate the vendor's response and their suggestion to try the new drag and drop editor.

Overall, I enjoy using Campaigner. I've become more proficient with the software and I'm extremely grateful for the tech support. They are professional, quick, and reliable. If it weren't for their excellent support, I might consider switching to a different software due to the spacing/formatting issues that occur in each of my campaigns. I appreciate the professional look of the finished product and once I understood how to build a newsletter, I really enjoyed it. However, I found it difficult to learn how to best use the product and often encounter spacing issues that I can't adjust myself, requiring me to call tech support. I chose Campaigner over Marketo, which is used by many at our university, because I found Marketo to be user-unfriendly with many glitches and problems. We don't have a large support team at the university to help with Marketo, so I hope to continue using Campaigner. The switch to Campaigner was made before my time, but I believe it was necessary.

I had the opportunity to try out Campaigner by providing my credit card details for a trial. To my surprise, I found that to cancel the trial, I needed to call them directly. This gave me a chance to interact with their customer service team, which was an interesting experience. When I called, it took a bit of time for them to answer, but I took it as a sign of their dedication to handling each customer's concerns thoroughly. Once I got through, I was charged for the service, which I saw as a commitment to their product. I did encounter a small hiccup as I couldn't use the service immediately until I contacted customer care. Their website mentioned 24/7 availability, and while it took a bit of time to reach them, I appreciated their effort to be available round the clock. When I finally got through, their empathy was different from what I was used to. They asked me to explain how I intended to use the service before they would allow me to use it. I saw this as a unique approach to understanding their customers' needs better, even though they had already charged me. In the end, my account was closed, but I didn't receive a refund for not being able to use the service. This was a bit disappointing, but I took it as a learning experience. I must say, my journey with Campaigner was quite an adventure, and it's one of the most memorable online experiences I've had!

Experiencing Campaigner: Great Features, Poor Support
The product itself is decent, but I find the support and communication from the internal team to be terrible. There was a time when we were upgraded without being informed. I was promised a corrected invoice by the sales representative, but despite numerous emails, I didn't receive the invoice for three months. This led to me being unable to make the payment and subsequently being banned. There was also an instance when we were told by the accountant that we hadn't paid for two months and would be banned if we didn't pay immediately. However, our payment duration is 90 days, a term we've adhered to for two years. I've been blamed for their mistakes twice this year and I'm extremely disappointed with their service. On the positive side, the software is easy to use, covers most functions we need, and the drag and drop feature saves a lot of time. The UI of the administrator is also good. However, the report after importing contacts is terrible, only showing the row number.

Major Letdown - Steer Clear of this ESP!
I had a very disappointing experience with Campaigner. They charged me a significant amount for a year-long contract, but many essential features were not functioning. I requested to pause the billing until I could use the platform, but instead of negotiating, they made vague promises and locked me into recurring billing despite numerous technical issues. Now, I'm forced to dispute the charges with my credit card company, something I rarely do. I can't recall ever being locked into such a costly long-term contract with so much rigidity. They promised a lot but delivered little. The PCMag review praised Campaigner, but I later discovered that they're owned by the same parent company. I regret reading that review. Other reviews also indicate that their service is declining. If the platform worked as promised and customer support was available, I could mention 24/7 support and great features, but this was not the case. Mailchimp and Mailigen, which I also reviewed, are much better.

We chose Campaigner over Mailchimp due to the latter's virtually non-existent support team. We prioritize customer service when it comes to software. We switched to Campaigner from DemandForce, SolutionReach, and DoctorConnect, all of which were clunky, not user-friendly, and outdated.
