      Excellent Email Tool for Customers, Content Creation Could Be Better

      I've been using Customer.io for nearly three months and it has completely revolutionized the way our SaaS business communicates with our customers. It's been instrumental in onboarding new customers, re-engaging lapsed users, and announcing new features. Creating a sequence of emails triggered by specific events like sign-ups, upgrades, or cancellations is simple and can be easily applied to individual customer segments, although it does require some understanding of logic. Creating one-time mailings to a group of customers based on certain criteria is also straightforward once the segments are defined. Compared to MailChimp, which we previously used, Customer.io is far superior. The integration with our software product is easy and the API for updating customer profiles and posting events is very useful. However, Customer.io does have its shortcomings, particularly in the content creation department. The text editor is not as good as the rest of the application and requires a lot of manual HTML manipulation to get emails and newsletters looking just right.

      I find Customer.io to be highly suitable for SAAS products like ours. It's easy to integrate our data sources like Segment, and it's straightforward to access attributes and events. It's perfect for running onboarding or lead nurturing campaigns. Compared to other products I've used, it's the simplest. The dashboard is also very quick, even with a lot of data, and not clunky at all. This enables me to create and send campaigns much faster. However, the dashboard does contain quite a few jargons, which can be somewhat confusing. It would be beneficial if there were more explanations on certain features. Some of their best features are easy to miss because they are hidden. I switched to Customer.io because it's much easier to use, and the interface is much quicker. In comparison, ActiveCampaign was very slow and clunky.

However, setting up our dedicated preference center was time-consuming and resource-intensive, and it disrupted native campaign tracking and the native unsubscribe button. They are, however, working on a new feature to address this issue. Another challenge is data analysis. While there are many interesting data points, extracting specific behavior or data points can be difficult. They are aware of this and are working on improving this aspect of the product. I chose Customer.io for its core product strength, impressive UX, and competitive pricing.

      I think the software is excellent and meets all our requirements. The highlight is the automations, which let us effortlessly create and manage any campaign. However, it would be helpful if we could duplicate a whole workspace with all segments and campaigns, rather than rebuilding everything. Another beneficial feature would be a dynamic wait or an integrated queue system for webhooks. We selected Customer.io because it automatically filled in customer attributes when we connected Segment and it also had superior logic control.

      My experience with Customer.io has been incredibly frustrating. We've used their platform for push notifications, but the results have been disappointing. The delivery rate of notifications is only 1-2%, which is unacceptable for a service that promises effective communication. The notifications are often delayed, sometimes up to 45 minutes, which hampers our engagement with customers. The support we've received has been unsatisfactory. Despite our attempts to get help, Customer.io's support team hasn't been able to fix these issues. We've been left to deal with a faulty service on our own. Furthermore, Customer.io's management hasn't offered any compensation or discount for the problems we've faced. It's disheartening to see a company not taking responsibility for their promises and failing to acknowledge their shortcomings. Our integration costs with Customer.io were also very high. We invested a lot of time and resources into this platform, only to face numerous problems and unsatisfactory results. If I could go back in time, I would definitely choose a different service provider. Customer.io has left us deeply dissatisfied with both their product and their customer support. I hope that by sharing our experience, others can avoid the same frustrations we've endured.
