      Challenging and Unresponsive Customer Support at Twilio

      I've been a SendGrid customer for about 7 months, using it to manage transactional emails from my website. I was happy with the service and decided to use it for my marketing campaigns as well. On September 30th, I exported my MailChimp contacts and cleaned up the data. In October, I upgraded my SendGrid plan to Basic 50k, reached out to SendGrid support, informed them about my plans and asked about the use of Tags. I then imported 47k contacts and prepared a time-sensitive single send marketing piece which I released on October 2nd to my entire contact list. However, SendGrid shut down the campaign, disabled the links in the 13k emails that had been sent, rendering them useless, and suspended my account. I have been unable to get in touch with SendGrid to resolve this. This action by Twillo/SendGrid has significantly affected my business as the campaign was in support of a live continuing education course scheduled for October 3rd.

Initially, we received great support from our salesperson, who even involved engineers in our discussions. However, the contract was not explained well and we were given false promises. After signing a volume deal, the sales support vanished and we felt stuck in the contract. We eventually got a refund and terminated the contract, but it was a long and complex process. We chose Twilio because they are market leaders with a developer-focused offering.
