After using a different service for eight years that began experiencing functionality issues, I decided to give EmailOctopus a try based on a recommendation and I haven't regretted it. Everything works flawlessly with EmailOctopus. It's simple to import lists, establish lead capture pages for new subscribers, design newsletter templates, and launch campaigns. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be the ability to link social media accounts instead of manually posting links to campaign emails on Facebook and Twitter. I chose EmailOctopus because it was affordable and it performed specific functions better than Sendgrid, which I still use for some other projects. I made the switch to EmailOctopus because my previous service was becoming more complicated and less reliable.

I haven't used their email builder much, as I typically use my own HTML template or send simple text emails. Furthermore, when I purchased their premium plan and it didn't work from the first day, they refused to refund me, claiming that I had used their premium plan, even though I hadn't used it for even a day! I've had a fantastic experience using EmailOctopus for my email marketing campaigns. The platform is user-friendly and efficient, offering a wide range of templates and the ability to create custom ones. I value the free plan that includes campaign scheduling, a feature not always provided by other services. The support team has been excellent, responding promptly and welcoming suggestions. The pricing is also very affordable, especially once you reach 2500 subscribers. I highly recommend EmailOctopus for its ease of use, affordability, and outstanding customer support. My favorite features are creating my own template and scheduling campaigns. Although it integrates with StoryOrigin, the platform I use for delivering reader magnets and newsletter swaps, EmailOctopus's API doesn't support list stats. However, the support team is open to suggestions and I hope this will be addressed in a future update. I chose EmailOctopus for its higher number of subscribers in the free plan, affordable price, scheduling option, and integration with my reader magnet delivery platform.

Simply Avoid.
Initially, everything seemed okay with EmailOctopus, but after an email blast, I experienced a 35% bounce rate. To my frustration, they suspended my account and also deactivated the links in my email blast, which was quite embarrassing from a business standpoint. I would advise you to save yourself the trouble as there are plenty of other email services out there.

I was initially nervous about the switch, but it proved to be completely hassle-free, despite having to create templates and sign-up forms from scratch. Transferring my list of 1500 subscribers was also easy. EmailOctopus's interface is incredibly clean and uncluttered. The website runs smoothly, even when I'm inputting a lot of information into a newsletter. Managing blocks is simple and testing emails before sending them is easy. I appreciate the simplicity of the campaign reports and the ease of setting up automations.Although EmailOctopus may not have as many features as some of the larger mailing list services, this isn't necessarily a negative as it makes the platform very user-friendly. However, I was asked to answer questions about my database and lists, including their origin, just two hours after signing up. I had to provide all this information and wait for approval before I could send any emails. I found this process unusual compared to other providers I've used, like Mailchimp or Hubspot. When I complained, the vendor explained that this approval process is in place to maintain their high deliverability. They review the type of emails I'll be sending and how my list was developed. They pointed out that many companies still use purchased lists, which are not only illegal but also negatively affect the service. This step allows them to educate users and enhance their service for everyone. They also mentioned that in many cases, approval can be done immediately.

I regret leaving Mailchimp for EmailOctopus as it lacks basic functionality. It's difficult to switch services once committed, so be cautious before signing up. When I raise concerns about the absence of basic services, they promise to add them to a development list. These functions should be easy to provide, but they don't. As a former Mailchimp user, I miss features like imports, search, batch delivery, and A/B testing. The team at EmailOctopus is friendly and I'd like to support them, but I want future customers to know about the limited functionality. In response to their reply, I could replicate their service and add the missing basic functions using Gravity Forms/Sendgrid. I hope they can quickly improve their service by adding basic functions like batch send.

They suggested that my server might be the cause, which was an interesting perspective as I use a highly secure and reliable hosting service. I appreciate that they are a business and need to make money, and I respect their policy of not offering refunds after sending thousands of emails. In response to my inquiries, they always provide detailed explanations, suggesting potential issues with the client, the server, the IP, or DNS configurations. They also pointed out that I had sent a lot of bounced emails, which was a fascinating insight into how their platform operates. Their customer support is always ready to engage in a dialogue and provide their perspective on any issues. As a marketing partner, EmailOctopus has certainly provided a unique experience. They even added an extra layer of intrigue by mentioning a sales team when I was discussing other matters. Overall, I would recommend EmailOctopus for those who are looking for a unique email marketing platform and are open to a dynamic and engaging experience.

I managed to set up EmailOctopus in just over an hour, including adding all my lists. Having previously used MailerLite, Mailchimp, and other services, EmailOctopus quickly became my preferred choice due to its excellent social mission. The setup process was straightforward and the support offered by real people who are clearly passionate about the product was impressive. Most of its features meet the industry standard, and they are still developing more, which I am excited about. However, it's still early days and I would like to see a deeper Zapier integration for my specific use case. I switched to EmailOctopus because I found MailerLite's system for flagging bounce rates annoying and their customer support unnecessarily punitive.
