As a person who studies links, either as a hobby or professionally, I find Bitly to be an invaluable tool. It's one of the easiest apps I can recommend. If you're dealing with unusually long links or need detailed analytics on your links, I believe there's no better tool. I've used Bitly extensively for academic work and it's been crucial for reporting the performance of my academic posts to my board. The ability to track link performance based on time and geographical locations has allowed me to optimize the posts I publish. The seamless integration with Buffer also lets me publish and shorten links simultaneously. I can't think of any weaknesses with this app. I chose Bitly over TinyURL because it offers advanced link tracking features that I felt were lacking in TinyURL.

Effective Tool, Questionable Sales Approach
I recall when Twitter made bit.ly popular. It's unfortunate that such a cool brand has resorted to questionable sales tactics. I value its scalability, having created hundreds of thousands of custom links through our app. I don't use the analytics, but they seem sufficient. The user interface is a bit outdated, but I only use their API. I initially paid bit.ly $4000 for an annual license and signed the purchase order. Everything was fine for 9 months. However, hidden in their purchase order was a link to a 4-page Google document. In the fine print of this document was a clause stating that I needed to give them a 90-day notice if I didn't want the contract to automatically renew. As soon as the 90-day window was up, I received an email referring to this as a "legal matter" for not giving them the notice. I informed them that I wouldn't renew. A week later, I received an email saying they had worked. I want you to speak in the first person.

There was a minor hiccup where the QR codes were blocked by Bitly for a few weeks, but I took it as an opportunity to reach out to their customer service. I was impressed by their prompt response to my first complaint, assuring me that the links were working fine. I've sent a few more queries and I'm eagerly awaiting their response. I'm confident they'll sort it out soon. I would definitely recommend using Bitly for printed documents, it's been quite a journey so far!

I used to utilize a different URL shortening service until I came across Bitly and registered an account. I had experienced some technical issues with the previous service and decided to give Bitly a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to find it extremely user-friendly. Over the past two years, Bitly has become even more user-friendly and powerful. I am completely satisfied with Bitly and am grateful to the team for providing such an outstanding service. I especially adore Bitly for its useful tools like UTM link features, the official WordPress plugin, and link tracking features, all of which are available even on free accounts. The only downside is that I can't use my custom domain with a free account. I switched to Bitly because it's much more user-friendly and feature-rich compared to TinyURL.

This can be an issue when creating links that people need to type into their devices. Despite this, Bitly is very simple to use and it works. Plus, it's free for most of the basic stuff. The only downside is that using "Bitly" may not always be the best branding option for my link needs, but the paid version allows me to create branded links.

Redirecting a URL is simple with Bitly and I am very satisfied with it. When developing a brand through social media, it's important for me to have all my links of the same length and comparable. Shorter links look better in Instagram and Twitter bios, making them more streamlined. Sharing a long URL can lead to errors and potential sharers might get annoyed and give up before sharing my link. Bitly makes replicating links easier. However, Bitly does have some security issues. Sometimes, I don't know what a link is for and if someone gives it to me without any context, I might block it or distrust it and refuse to click on it.

I've been using Bitly and I must say, it's a pretty solid product! I'm particularly impressed by their first line customer care. As a paid member, I appreciate the personal touch they give by taking the time to respond to my queries, usually within a couple of days. One feature that stands out is the bulk uploading of links. It's a unique process where I get to add UTMs to each link if I'm redirecting to the same link. It's a bit time-consuming, but it's a great way to customize and track my links effectively. I've also had the chance to interact with Bitly's second line support and they've been incredibly helpful. They usually get back to me within 2-3 days, sometimes up to 5 days, but the wait is worth it because they always provide comprehensive solutions. Bitly is perfect for me when I'm creating ad hoc links here and there, especially when using the free account. I'm giving it a solid four stars for this reason. If you're considering a paid account and expecting top-notch support, Bitly is definitely worth a shot!
