      I found Yodel to be a handy alternative to a traditional phone, but the high cost made the switch less convenient. Its integration with Slack was innovative, yet problematic. Features like voicemail were well-designed and useful. However, the cost for a single phone line for my 5-person team was significantly higher than a traditional phone line or services like Vonage. The convenience of being in Slack didn't justify the high cost. The Slack integration was also glitchy, with delayed notifications and multiple people able to answer a call at the same time without knowing, which confused callers. This was tolerable when the service was cheaper, but at 10 times the cost of a traditional phone line, it was a deal breaker. The absence of a mobile app, integration with GSuite or CRM software, and slow customer service response times were also deal breakers. The software simply wasn't worth the cost with the new pricing.

These are features I didn't anticipate finding outside of a costly enterprise solution. Operating our phone system through Slack has increased our productivity as we can screen calls without blindly answering the phone. However, answering and forwarding calls can be time-consuming, particularly when the phone is constantly ringing. I wish there was a straightforward, in-Slack method for forwarding incoming calls to our physical phones. I'm optimistic that this will be more easily handled once Yodel releases their Windows apps.
