What is Shift?

Shift is a productivity tool that centralizes the management of multiple email accounts, apps, and workflows. It allows users to access and manage various accounts and apps like Gmail, Outlook, Slack, etc., from one platform, eliminating the need to switch between different tabs or applications. Shift enhances productivity by offering features such as unified search, notification management, and cross-app integration. It also provides opportunities to save costs through SaaS deals available in Secret's marketplace.

Pros from reviewers

  • Streamlined workflow: Shift provides a centralized platform for managing various external browser apps and desktop programs, making workflow management more efficient and less cluttered

  • Enhanced productivity: By consolidating frequently used applications, websites, and programs into one user interface, Shift significantly improves productivity and reduces redundancy

  • Easy account switching: Shift allows for fast and easy switching between different accounts once websites are loaded, which is particularly useful for users managing multiple accounts for the same service

  • App integrations: Shift's app integrations eliminate the need for keeping multiple apps or windows open, thereby improving efficiency and desktop organization

  • Customization: Shift offers a high level of customization through the installation of extra apps, allowing users to tailor the platform to their specific needs.

Cons from reviewers

  • Frequent glitches and updates: Users have reported encountering glitches in the dashboard almost every day, and frequent updates often cause the dashboard to malfunction, hindering navigation through mail, folders, and drafts

  • Poor customer support: When users reach out to support for help with glitches and bugs, they are often suggested to uninstall the software or try an alpha or beta version, which also come with their own set of issues. The support team has been described as unhelpful and unresponsive

  • Constant need to log in: Shift struggles to keep accounts logged in as much as a regular browser, leading to the need to constantly sign in to apps. This is particularly inconvenient when clicking a link from an app in Shift, as it opens within Shift and not the user's preferred browser.

  • Limited advanced features: Despite its ease of use and tab management, Shift lacks advanced features compared to its competitors, such as Wavebox, which continually introduces new features and supports Linux

  • Limited email integration: The email feature in Shift only works with major platforms like Gmail and 365, and there is no option to disable the Gmail integration for users who don't use Shift for email

Effortless Car Selling Experience with Shift

Absolutely love using Shift to sell my car! Their online offer system is so convenient and easy to use. When I went in person, they provided a detailed explanation of the car's value, using specific terms that really helped me understand the process. It's clear they're thorough and want to ensure a fair deal. I highly recommend using Shift to save time and energy when selling your car!

Brilliant Idea, Yet Clunky for Everyday Use

I tried using Shift, the paid version, for over a year but found it less efficient than advertised due to several issues. I constantly had to log into various apps and websites, and it became the default browser for links opened from within Shift-connected apps. I eventually stopped using it and switched back to using a work-only user on my computer to avoid distractions. I like the idea of having all my work apps in one 'workstation', which helps me stay focused and keep my apps organized. However, Shift struggles to keep accounts logged in as much as a regular browser, leading to the annoying need to constantly sign in to apps. Also, if I click a link from an app in Shift, it opens within Shift, not my preferred browser, which is often inconvenient and unhelpful.

Shift: A Time-Saver and Game-Changer, Not Flawless but Definitely a Winner

My overall experience with Shift has been extremely positive. It has significantly saved me time and transformed my daily computer usage, making it easy to switch between my most frequently used software platforms. The ability to keep multiple software platforms open on one screen, separate from my web browser, is the main reason I use Shift. The ease of moving between multiple Slack channels and Monday.com alone justifies the cost for our company. The integration of email and other platforms is an added bonus. However, I find it frustrating that the email feature only works with major platforms like Gmail and 365. I also wish there was an option to disable the Gmail integration, as I don't use Shift for email.

      Steer Clear of This Software!

I must confess that while I found the Shift platform useful, it also presented a fair amount of challenges. I encountered glitches in the dashboard almost every other day or there would be a new update. Frequently, the dashboard would open but not function properly, hindering me from navigating through my mail, folders, and drafts, which was incredibly frustrating. Whenever I reached out to support, they would suggest uninstalling the software or trying an alpha or beta version, each with their own set of bugs and glitches. I would consistently create a support ticket for these issues, but I eventually grew tired of being their guinea pig without any real solutions or improvements. As my subscription was nearing its end, I contacted them to see if they would extend my free "pro" subscription as a loyal customer, but they outright refused. They didn't even offer a significant discount. Despite always being on the hunt for new technology and innovative products for my team, Shift simply doesn't meet the standard in terms of their product or their support. Their service is poor.

      Review on Shift Pomona Software

Pro: I found the financing approval process to be quick and simple. The customer service at the location was friendly and helpful. Although some of the cars we wanted to see were not available at this location, Gus was great and showed us several other options until we found one we liked. Con: The car was supposed to be washed, but it was given to us dirty. I didn't bother them about it though. However, I did have to call them because the oil and brake fluid service lights were on. It took 3 days to get a call back about that. They stated that the oil change was done and I just needed to reset the notification. However, the brake fluid change is apparently on us since they don't do that before they sell the car. Also, they put a Shift bumper sticker on the trunk, which I need to scrape off without damaging the paint. Overall: I am happy with the purchase.

Boost Your Efficiency with Shift: A Power User's Dream Application

Using Shift has greatly improved my efficiency, removed redundancy, and turned my workstation into a power user platform due to its simple functionality and organization. I compare Shift to an iPhone or Android app for PC, as it consolidates all my frequently used applications, websites, and programs for easy access in one streamlined user interface. It simplifies my PC or Mac use, much like an iPhone. My productivity has soared since I began using this application. There's little to criticize about this software, although more integrations would be a nice enhancement. However, this is not a significant issue, but rather a suggestion for improvement. I chose Shift because it's unique and doesn't have any real competitors.

Swapped my car for another using Shift

I traded in my car and bought another one using Shift. There seems to be a lack of communication between departments which resulted in a lot of waiting. For instance, the sales department didn't communicate with the business department. However, the staff are generally pleasant and do their best to assist.

Decent, but Needs to Outpace Rivals

I think Shift is an excellent starting point for anyone new to workflow management. I appreciated its design and tab management, which made workspace separation a breeze. However, I now require more advanced features to consider resubscribing. Compared to its competitors, Shift's features are limited. Wavebox, for instance, is priced similarly but continually introduces new features and also supports Linux.

      Multiple Attempts at Calling

I tried numerous times to contact Shift for assistance through calls and emails, but was unable to reach anyone. Each time I called, I was put on hold indefinitely. Despite my pleas for a response in my emails, no one got back to me. This left me feeling frustrated and worried. If it weren't for the satisfactory offer on my car, I doubt I would have used Shift. I hope they can improve their response to calls and emails to better assist their customers and alleviate their frustrations.

Streamline Your Business with Shift: The Intuitive Multi-Account Management Software

After trialing Shift for two months, I had to stop using it due to the Gmail account restriction, despite its impressive features. If you're a Gmail user for business, Shift is a fantastic tool for consolidating all your services in one place. It excels at keeping all your accounts logged in and ready to use, eliminating the need for multiple browser tabs. This is especially handy if you have multiple accounts for the same service, like Gmail. Shift supports many services natively, including major email providers, social media, CRMs, and other business software. However, a significant downside is that your Shift account must be linked to a Gmail account. If you use Outlook/Office365, you need to link it to a Gmail account first to set up your additional emails. This is not practical for companies that use Office365 for all in-office accounts, as there's no workaround and no solution according to support.

Efficient and Fast Website Management with Shift

I find Shift to be a very useful program that significantly enhances my productivity, even though it's not perfect and could use some additional features. The software is incredibly simple and straightforward to use, with the setup only requiring me to log into my accounts. I value the high level of customization available through the installation of extra apps. Once websites are loaded, switching between accounts is very fast. The cross-account search feature is especially helpful when I can't recall which account received a specific email. However, I can only select account and app colors from a specific set, and I can't dock extra Google apps on the top-right - only the default Gmail, Calendar, and Drive are instantly accessible. Also, only a select number of Chrome extensions are available to install. The program does take some time to start up. I switched to Shift from using separate web apps and the browser for managing my email, WhatsApp, and other tasks. Having everything in one centralized place with Shift makes things much clearer and faster for me.

      Smitten at Second Glance

I was initially attracted to Shift's functionality after seeing an ad on Instagram. It appeared to be the perfect solution to minimize the numerous Chrome tabs I had open for work. I downloaded the free version and initially loved it, but soon ran into its limitations. After a short break, I found that I enjoyed using it despite its limited functionality, as it simplified my workflow. I decided to buy the full version, which offered more integration options and ran smoothly. My company uses various external browser apps and desktop programs like Trello, Slack, Quip, Asana, Monday.com, Twitter, Salesforce, Email Clients, and more. With Shift, my workflow is streamlined and easier to manage from one desktop app. Now, my web browser is solely for simple searches, and I only have a few applications downloaded on my computer, saving space and time.
