      This software has been incredibly beneficial for me. I'm currently trialing the new Case Merge BETA that was launched in Summer 19, but I'm also using it in conjunction with the older version until I'm sure it's the better choice. The capacity to merge cases, which wasn't a built-in feature for Salesforce, is a significant advantage. I didn't like the workaround of relating to other cases, so I chose Astrea Case Merge instead. The search function was a bit clumsy at first. The added ability to search by Contact is very useful, but it would be even better if the account against the contact could be included. I use persona accounts and having the account name could help me identify if it's a contact or person account. It might be helpful to automatically pull the contact name if it's available on the case to quickly check for duplicates. Instead of individual statuses, a Closed/Open checkbox could be included to quickly display only open or closed cases. I opted for Ast.

      I initially downloaded the merge app some time ago and noticed that it didn't actually merge cases, but only related them. I gave this feedback to Astrea and they released a new version that does a proper merge, which I think is fantastic. For a free app, I consider this one of the best add-ons for anyone using Email to Case. It does have some limitations in terms of search criteria, but nothing that can't be fixed during the case merge. It's easy to set up and use, works very well, and Astrea is responsive to feedback and has made improvements to the app. It's free! However, it only finds duplicates based on the subject, so sometimes it requires a bit of case editing to match duplicates.
