This promotes a broader business discussion, interrogation, and contribution to the strategic direction, instead of it being imposed from above. However, the tool can't be used half-heartedly. To fully benefit from it, it must be embraced by the entire organization. This isn't a criticism of the tool itself, but an observation that it requires the organization's buy-in to be effective.

We selected Cascade as it aligns with our strategic planning approach, enabling each of our 20 departments to manage their own strategic plan while maintaining visibility and alignment with the overall business strategy. One of the major advantages of this system is its transparency. With a single click, I can evaluate the health of the organization based on its strategic objectives and goals. It's user-friendly and customizable, allowing anyone to set up team dashboards quickly for meetings or general communication. The snapshot reports are excellent for sharing with others outside the system and provide a current Gantt chart of project status. However, there are instances when I encounter features that are not present in the system but would be beneficial. The chat function is a fantastic feature that allows me to communicate directly with the Cascade team and receive real-time responses to any queries.

I value Cascade Strategy as it provides a comprehensive approach to project management. I've been looking for a project portfolio management app that begins with strategic planning and Cascade meets this need. It combines strategy planning and execution, which I believe should be inseparable. So far, I haven't found anything to dislike, although I do wish it had native integration with Google Apps, especially Google Calendar, Tasks, and Gmail. I was searching for a tracking tool that could prioritize our projects for our leadership team's reviews. The Cascade Team was excellent, devising ways for us to highlight and track, but the product was overly sophisticated for our needs. I would recommend this product and the team to anyone if it fits their usage needs, but it wasn't the best fit for us. Cascade is a great tool for tracking initiatives and using them to drive performance and KPI's. However, it was too intricate for our company that mainly tracks progress on initiatives. Our leaders struggled to delegate updates to their team members, leading them to use other methods as working documents and then updating Cascade for the leadership team. Despite its KPI tracking capabilities, we found it difficult to attach metrics to many of our initiatives due to their nature.

The setup process forces you to consider the alignment of your goals, objectives, focus areas, and vision. Cascade recognizes that the key unit of strategy implementation is people, subtly emphasizing this throughout the platform. The platform is visually appealing, but there's room for improvement in the printed reports. It's difficult to represent the complex and multi-layered relationships between people, tasks, goals, vision, etc. on a static printed page. However, I believe it could be better than it currently is.

Excellent for Enhancing Organizational Oversight and Visibility
Starting with Cascade was extremely easy and the setup was hassle-free, unlike other software I've used before. It immediately combines strategy, accountability, progress, reporting, risk, and governance, offering a complete overview of the current situation. I haven't seen any other software do this as effectively. However, I feel it could provide more 'wins' for the end user. I'm not entirely sure what these would involve, but I believe it's essential to keep improving the end-user experience while also enhancing the management view.
