Overall, WooCommerce has surpassed my expectations and I plan to keep using it for the foreseeable future. I must confess, I have a soft spot for WooCommerce. In the past 8 months, it has enabled us to reach sales numbers we never thought were achievable. The ease of managing orders straight from our mobile devices, altering order statuses from on-hold to completed after checking financial records, has been incredibly quick and simple. The feature to add custom notes, either for the customer or privately for our team, has revolutionized our customer management. It feels like having a product management system and a CRM within the same dashboard. However, many of the useful features, such as shipping status updates, come as paid add-ons.

It has also potentially expanded our customer base beyond our local area. I value the built-in inventory management and its user-friendliness, particularly for those familiar with WordPress. The capability to enhance an existing business site with this feature is excellent. However, setting up shipping in New Zealand with plugins can be expensive. If you're comfortable with establishing shipping classes and occasionally losing out when customers buy more than can be shipped in their size box, then it's acceptable. I opted for WooCommerce because we already had an existing WordPress website, making the transition much smoother.

It tries to be a standalone system, but we've found it more effective to transfer purchase data into our own CRM system. We've decided to cease using it for student registration, but might continue using it for item sales. I initially selected WooCommerce because it was integrated into the WordPress theme I bought and because PayPal was problematic. Our customers found PayPal confusing and disliked it, making account reconciliation challenging.

It provides all the necessary infrastructure for a modern, fully functional eCommerce store and handles many tasks like inventory management, shopping carts, shipping, and more. With WooCommerce in WordPress, I can operate without needing any coding skills. It's my go-to plugin for online store designs because of its simplicity, modern user interface, support for a wide range of third-party integrations, and the fact that it's lightweight and free. Even though it's a free plugin, I have.
