A Delightful Unexpected Experience
I initially gave Kofax a one-star review after they bought Nuance, as there were significant teething problems. I was worried that tech support would decline, especially for older software versions, which often happens when one software company acquires another. However, to my surprise, Kofax's tech support for Nuance products has greatly improved since the purchase. I had a complex issue with a previous release of Ominpage. When I called the tech support line, I was quickly connected to a friendly human. Sourav patiently and skillfully identified and fixed the problem, despite my limited bandwidth and poor landline connection, which required several interruptions for downloads. We were able to reconnect quickly after the downloads were completed. In past tech support experiences, I often couldn't reconnect with the original agent if the session was interrupted and had to start over. This was a very pleasant surprise!

As a user, I consider Kofax Power PDF to be one of the best PDF readers, editors, and converters I've ever used. It's more affordable than Adobe and serves many purposes. My team and I use it extensively for our clients, sending them statements of their accounts/holdings. I particularly appreciate its encryption feature, as I find password protecting a document much easier than with Adobe PDF. Its editor is also very efficient, automatically detecting texts for editing. The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is greatly enhanced and reads images well. However, I've had some difficulties with its electronic signatures. The process to electronically sign a document is somewhat complex and requires several steps. We switched to Kofax Power PDF because it's cheaper than Adobe and meets our requirements.

OCR Functionality Fails to Deliver as Promised
I'm having nothing but problems with Kofax Power PDF. It feels like a heavy burden when it doesn't fulfill its intended purpose. The company should provide a feature to search for specific error messages. They only offer 30 days of support before you have to buy the product. While it does have more features than Nuance and I appreciate the fresh interface, I'm disappointed with this new company that took over Nuance. The software consistently fails to convert a PDF to an OCR PDF. I've tried everything - uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling my firewall, allowing the software through my virus protection, but nothing seems to work. There are no search results for my error on their website or Google. I would recommend sticking with the Nuance version, it's more stable and reliable. I'm at a loss on how to resolve this issue and it's incredibly frustrating.

I was initially a bit apprehensive as I was unable to reach KOFAX through my regular Gmail account and they didn't seem to have telephone support in the UK. However, I realized that this could be due to their policy of not responding to generic email accounts. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed at first, but I'm optimistic that KOFAX will respond to the email I sent to their information email. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they handle this situation and I'm more than willing to update this review with a more positive outlook once I hear back from them. I've been using Kofax Power PDF software and it's been quite an interesting journey! I've discovered a unique feature where using CTRL + C and CTRL + V to copy and paste text into another box results in the entire field being copied, including the box itself. It's a different approach, but it's certainly innovative! Their customer service has been incredibly hands-on, remotely viewing my computer twice and even taking control once to try and resolve the issue. It's clear they're committed to finding a solution. They've even offered to escalate the issue, provided they can access my computer again and record the process. It's great to see a company so dedicated to improving their product! During one of their remote sessions, they made some adjustments that had an unexpected impact on my Microsoft products. But hey, every cloud has a silver lining - it gave me the opportunity to reformat and start fresh, which is always a good thing! Their expectation for me to use company time to help them resolve issues and test their prototype applications shows their commitment to making their software the best it can be. It's been a unique experience, and I'm excited to see how they'll continue to evolve and improve their product!

Perfect for My Small Business Needs
As previously stated, Power PDF was the solution I needed to generate forms and reports for my clients. I've been using this PDF software even before Kofax took over. I required an affordable PDF software to create and fill out inspection forms and to convert reports from other software into PDF format. The final reports, in PDF format, are then electronically sent to my clients. The ability to "flatten" these forms and reports to prevent modification is a key feature. Power PDF provides the solutions necessary for my business. The switch to the ribbon toolbar a few years ago was a slight learning curve but ultimately an improvement. I switched to Kofax Power PDF because I felt it was as powerful as what I was using, more cost-effective, and had a more intuitive interface.

On December 26, 222, I had the opportunity to interact with Kofax's support team due to a minor hiccup with my Power PDF Standard software. Over the next 6 days, I was actively involved in the troubleshooting process, providing multiple supporting files and screenshots as requested. This process allowed me to delve deeper into the software and understand the subtle differences between Power PDF Standard and Power PDF Advanced. Eventually, I was informed that the issue had been resolved for corporate licensees. Although they were unable to provide a direct solution, upgrade, or refund for me as an individual retail licensee, I appreciated their honesty and directness. This experience was a unique one, as it gave me a chance to contribute to the improvement of the software, making me feel like a part of the Kofax team. Despite the challenges, I am excited about the potential of Kofax products and look forward to seeing how they continue to evolve and improve. Embracing Challenges with KOFAX Power PDF: A Unique Approach to PDF Editing
I find KOFAX Power PDF to be a unique challenge that keeps me on my toes! It's a software that encourages me to think outside the box when it comes to editing objects within the PDF. While it doesn't allow me to convert the PDFs to be completely editable, it does provide an opportunity to work with the original format, which can be a fun puzzle to solve. Placing an image with zero transparency or on top of a KOFAX shape like a rectangle with zero transparency is not possible, but it's a great way to maintain the integrity of the original document. Deleting specific lead lines on the image isn't an option, but it does help to preserve the authenticity of the document. Matching the text format already in the PDF or pasting in an image from another source like a snipping tool isn't available, but it's a great way to keep the original style and design of the document intact. The software does have a tendency to crash when I have multiple PDFs open for editing, but it's a good reminder to focus on one task at a time. And while I can't recover edited PDFs after a crash, it's a great lesson in saving my work frequently. The PDFs I need to edit are old, scanned from paper copies, and highly classified, so they can't be recreated in AutoCAD or SolidWorks without multiple levels of government approval. This makes working with KOFAX Power PDF an exciting adventure in problem-solving and creativity. I've spent hours trying to edit PDFs that would have taken minutes with Adobe Acrobat, but it's a great way to hone my skills and patience. I recommend investing in this software if you're up for a challenge and ready to think outside the box!
