      Terrible Business Ethics, Steer Clear of GoToWebinar

      I was happy with GoTo Webinar for years until they tried to charge us for something we didn't agree to. Interacting with their support was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. In the past, this was one of the best solutions for hosting webinars. It still performs adequately and the participant list is well organized. It also allows for some branding customization. However, compared to Zoom, more technical issues occur with participants. Connection and audio setup seem to heavily rely on the client's system. The user interface is also less intuitive and has fewer features than its competitors. The worst part was discovering the company's unethical practices. We were long-time customers and when the pandemic hit, they sent an email offering an additional hosting seat for free for a year. We accepted, only to later find out that they locked everyone who accepted into a year-long contract that was never free as promised, charging everyone around $800. Their supposed help was just a scheme to profit from people during the pandemic.

There have been a few hiccups with my payments not going through initially, but the moment I get in touch with an agent, they're able to process it without a hitch. It's like having a personal assistant on standby! I've been proactive in responding to all their payment emails and forwarding them to all known contacts. It's been a great exercise in communication and patience. And even though it seems like there's no one managing the account, I've found that the agents are always ready to assist when I call. What's interesting is that the company seems to be a conglomerate of several entities, including logmein, gotomeeting, gotoconnect, and jive. It's like having access to multiple companies under one umbrella! The product names in admin may not match the product names you purchase, but it adds a layer of intrigue and keeps you on your toes. They have separate admin sites for the products, and navigating through 3 or 4 admin sites to manage the same employee can be a bit of a challenge, but it's also a great way to keep your multitasking skills sharp. It's like a treasure hunt, and I'm always up for a good challenge! All in all, using goto-webinar has been a unique experience. It's not just about the product, it's about the journey. And I must say, it's been quite a ride!
